A Mechanical Cranking Filter-Integrated Water Bottle

A mechanical cranking filter-integrated water bottle comprising at least a main body and a base cap which is detachable from the main body, said bottle comprising: a filter, a flexible pipe, and a pump housed in a bottom empty portion below said main body covered by said base cap in its non-working embodiment, all of which cause water to be filtered and then stored said main body, said filter being connected to said pump with the help of said flexible pipe, one end of said pump receiving water through said flexible pipe connected at that end and another end of said pump connected to said main body in order to pump in filtered water received through said pipe, said filter being a removable filter, said flexible pipe spaces apart filter from said main body in a working embodiment of said water bottle.

In many rural and treacherous areas, access to potable water is a significant challenge. This issue is especially critical for military personnel and individuals operating in extreme terrains and environmental conditions, where water sources such as ponds or stagnant bodies are often contaminated with bacteria, viruses, and other impurities. The lack of safe drinking water can lead to severe health risks, including poisoning or death. Current water storage solutions do not adequately address the need for a portable, reliable, and self-sufficient method to obtain clean and safe drinking water directly from contaminated sources. Therefore, there is an urgent need for a portable water bottle that integrates an effective filtration system to provide users with safe, potable water in any environment.

  • Integrated Filtration System: Combines storage and filtration within a single device, eliminating the need for separate filtration systems.
  • Manual Operation: Utilizes a hand-cranking pump, allowing for water filtration without batteries or external power sources, making it highly suitable for remote or emergency situations.
  • Portable and Compact Design: The filter, flexible pipe, and pump are housed within the base cap when not in use, making the bottle easy to carry and store.
  • Detachable and Removable Components: The filter is removable and the base cap is detachable, facilitating easy cleaning, maintenance, and replacement of parts.
  • Flexible Pipe Mechanism: The flexible pipe can be wound up when not in use and extended to space apart the filter from the main body during operation, optimizing the filtration process and ensuring efficient water flow.
  • Ventilated Base Cap: Features a grooved base cap with ventilation holes, which helps to maintain the efficiency and longevity of the filter by preventing moisture buildup and facilitating air circulation.
  • Stability Features: The filter is non-buoyant and counter-weighted, ensuring it stays submerged and stable during the filtration process, enhancing filtration efficiency.
  • Versatility: Suitable for various challenging environments, such as rural areas, treacherous terrains, and military operations, providing reliable access to clean drinking water from potentially contaminated sources.
  • Emergency Use: Acts as a life-saving tool in extreme conditions where potable water is not readily available, ensuring safe hydration for users in critical situations.

  • The device has a built-in pumping system for ease of drawing and filtering water.
  • There is a storage provision for the filtered water after pumping.
  • Use of HDPE makes the bottle durable as HDPE is safest form of plastic to be used as it is very hard wearing, does not breakdown under exposure to extreme weather conditions.
  • The filter housing is integrated within the bottle.
  • Hand cranking is preferable and more advantageous to suction for obtaining filtered water.

Main Components: Main Body: The primary structure of the water bottle where filtered water is stored. Base Cap: A detachable cap that houses the filter, flexible pipe, and pump when the bottle is not in use. Filtration System: Filter: Removable and non-buoyant filter responsible for purifying water. It may also be counter-weighted for stability. Flexible Pipe: Connects the filter to the pump and main body, allowing water to flow through the filter and into the storage section. Pumping Mechanism: Hand Cranking Pump: A manual pump with a cranking mechanism (24) and handle to draw water through the filter. It pumps filtered water from the filter, through the flexible pipe, and into the main body. Cranking Mechanism: Configured to facilitate the manual pumping action. Design and Functionality: Ventilated Base Cap: Grooved with through holes for ventilation, aiding in the proper functioning of the filter. Compact Storage: In the non-working state, the flexible pipe can be wound up on the pump, and the components are housed within the base cap. Operational Setup: During operation, the flexible pipe is extended to space apart the filter from the pump and main body, allowing for effective filtration. Mobility and Ease of Use: Portability: The design allows for easy disassembly and compact storage, making the bottle portable and convenient for use in various settings. Manual Operation: The hand-cranking pump eliminates the need for batteries or external power sources, making the bottle suitable for outdoor activities and emergency situations.

Prototype ensures portable, reliable filtration and storage of potable water, especially useful in remote or extreme conditions where access to clean water is critical.
