IIT Bombay Racing is a Formula Student team, with 70 enthusiastic undergraduate members who aim to conceive, design and fabricate an electric race car through innovation to compete in international Formula Student events. The project challenges students to go the extra step in their education by incorporating into it intensive experience in building and manufacturing as well as considering the economic aspects of the automotive industry. We became the first ever Indian team to successfully build Aluminium Honeycomb Composite Chassis. The introduction of BLDC motors over normal PMDC motors along with high energy density cells was a big step
towards getting record acceleration times of 0-100 kmph in less than 3.6 secs. Among others, successful fabrication of complete carbon fibre body in-house was the highlight of last season. It is this design innovation that has led the team to win Formula Student Award for the past three years. Year after year, we set a benchmark in
performance, design, fabricated components and industrial recognition of the vehicle. Every year, a newly assembled team re-engineers the above and levels up what was considered a benchmark back then.
