India's space sector is undergoing its most significant transformation since the establishment of ISRO. Landmark reforms—including the opening of the sector to private participation in 2020, the Indian Space Policy 2023, and the creation of IN-SPACe and NSIL—have accelerated the evolution of a government-led programme into a thriving commercial ecosystem. Today, India is home to hundreds of space startups, with a national vision to build a $44 billion space economy by 2033, capturing 8% of the global market.

Achieving this vision requires strong collaboration between industry, academia, and government. While industry drives innovation and commercialization, government provides policy support and strategic direction, and academia contributes cutting-edge research, skilled talent, and long-term technological advancement.

Industry Day on Space Technology is IIT Bombay's initiative to strengthen this collaboration by bringing together industry, startups, government, and researchers to showcase the Institute's expertise, facilities, and innovations, while fostering partnerships that will shape the future of India's space ecosystem.
