The present invention relates to a system for detection and characterization of delamination in PV modules. The system comprises a heating means for applying uniform and modulated localized heat flux onto surface of PV modules; a thermal imaging means for capturing thermal images for a specific time duration; and a data acquisition, memory and computation means for image gathering, storing, processing and for analysis of detection and estimation of delamination in PV modules.
