Systems and Methods for Minimizing Water Consumption in Cleaning of Solar Panels
Abstract

This innovation is a water delivery and dispersal system designed for the efficient cleaning of solar panels. The system aims to minimize water consumption while ensuring effective cleaning, utilizing a mechanically actuated water dispersion and delivery mechanism. This system can be integrated with automated robotic cleaning apparatuses for optimal performance.

Problem Statement

Traditional solar panel cleaning mechanisms often result in significant water wastage as they focus primarily on the cleaning action, such as spraying water across the panels, without measures to reduce water consumption. This invention addresses the need for an efficient, economical, and effective cleaning system that minimizes water usage.

  • The technology uniquely reduces water consumption during solar panel cleaning by integrating a water delivery system with a cam profile, lever, and valve mechanism. This ensures efficient water flow control, thereby reducing water wastage significantly as compared to traditional cleaning methods.

  • Mechanically Actuated System: It uses mechanical movements to actuate the delivery and dispersal of water, optimizing water and energy use. 
  • Automated Robotic Integration: The technology can be integrated with automated robotic cleaning devices for enhanced cleaning efficiency and effectiveness.
Current Status of Technology

An experimental proof of concept of the invention has been developed.
