For nuclei like 1H, 11B, 13C, 31P, 19F , 77Se , 125Te , 199Hg etc. - In case of solids, only broad band frequency range is available and the sample can be spun up to a maximum of 15 KHz.

- VT ACCESSORY : Variable temperature facility is available. Currently Samples can be recorded in the temperature range from -40°C to + 60°C with suitable solvent.
- Along with the routine 1D experiment of nuclei like 1H, 13C, 19F,31P, other nuclei 11B,27Al, 77Se,125Te, 199Hg etc can be recorded.
- 1D experiments eg 1D NOE, APT, DEPT can be recorded

The principle behind NMR is that many nuclei have spin and all nuclei are electrically charged. If an external magnetic field is applied, an energy transfer is possible between the base energy to a higher energy level (generally a single energy gap). The energy transfer takes place at a wavelength that corresponds to radio frequencies and when the spin returns to its base level, energy is emitted at the same frequency. The signal that matches this transfer is measured in many ways and processed in order to yield an NMR spectrum for the nucleus concerned.
- Uers are advised to provide 10-20 mg of sample depending upon its molecular weight for obtaining high resolution proton NMR spectra.
- The sample should be completely soluble in 0.6 cc of the given solvent.
- For 13C at least 20-30 mg of sample is necessary for obtaining spectra with reasonable signal / noise ratio. However, higher amount of sample helps in reducing data acquisition time which in turn leads to reduction of analysis charges.
- For MAS-NMR experiments, sample should be in the form of very fine powder (20 microns) and at least 100-200mg of powder is required.
- All external users are required to submit samples accompanied by a letter containing analysis details.
- While requesting for analysis, information on i) type of analysis, ii) solvent and iii) spectral range should be given clearly in the letter.

- External Users can come in-person or send your samples along with a letter from the Head / Guide on your College/Institute /Industry Original Letter Head for registration stating that the analysis is for research purpose to qualify for academic concession. The letter should be addressed to The Head, Dept. Of Chemistry, IIT, Bombay.
- The analytical data / spectra are provided only for research / development purposes. These can not be used as certificates in legal disputes.
- Service charges are payable at prevailing rates (Please add 12.36% service tax).

- Samples, letter and payment should be sent in the same cover only. If Samples are received without covering letter/DD, the samples will be sent back to the user without any further intimation/notice. Separate Sample should be sent for different analysis.
- Samples are not analysed till Payment is received.
- Please send the samples in quantity as mentioned. Samples are not recovered, unless a special request is made.
- Radioactive material should be clearly mentioned and handed over personally.
- Unstable and explosive compounds are not accepted for analysis.
- The payment should be made in advance by only Demand Draft (DD) in favour of: " The Registrar, IIT Bombay."
