The Structural Engineering group at IIT Bombay provides an interdisciplinary environment for investigating and understanding the performance, behavior and resilience of structural members and systems. The group brings together faculties and researchers working across diverse areas of structural engineering, including structural dynamics and earthquake engineering, seismic isolation and vibration control, structural reliability and risk assessment, structural health monitoring, structural assessment and retrofitting, computational mechanics, concrete and steel structures, bridge engineering, structural materials, and emerging areas of mechanics and data-driven structural engineering. The group is supported by a range of specialized laboratory facilities that enable experimental investigations, advanced testing, monitoring and evaluation of structural systems. These laboratories provide a platform for translating fundamental research into practical solutions for safer, more reliable and resilient infrastructure.
