IIT Bombay has developed a nutraceutical and phytopharmaceutical based on natural flavouring and spice bioactives with antiviral and anti-inflammatory properties. All constituents are FSSAI approved and approved Ayurvedic components and includes approved permeation enhancers for improved absorption. The actives have a direct action, degrading the outer lipid envelope of enveloped viruses, thus deactivating them. The compositions have anti-inflammatory, antiviral and antioxidant effects and act as immune boosters. The formulation also reduces the cytokine storm and inactivates SARS n COV2, with potential in COVID therapeutics including complications. The technology has been incorporated into multiple product formats with taste masking, stability, quality control and scaled up under GMP conditions.
