Process for preparing polyarylated boron-dipyrromethenes
The present invention relates to a rapid and robust method for synthesizing polyarylated boron-dypyrromethenes (1-4) employing a key synthon hexabromo boron-dipyrromethene (BODIPY). The method provided in the instant invention is simple, economical and easily scalable. The X-ray structure of the polyarylated boron-dypyrromethenes (1-4) revealed that the polyarylated BODIPY adopt propeller-like conformation. These compounds exhibit red shifted absorption and fluorescence bands with decent quantum yields and reversible oxidation and reduction waves when compared to unsubstituted boron-dipyrromethenes.
