Methods and Systems for Monitoring and Tracking Health of a Subject Using a Wearable Device
Abstract

This innovation presents a wearable device designed to track a person’s health and detect symptoms of diseases like COVID-19. The device measures body temperature, heart rate, oxygen levels, respiratory rate, and sweat pH. It sends this data in real-time to healthcare professionals via a secure network. It features a locking system, ensuring the device stays in place during monitoring periods (like quarantine). The system helps identify health risks early and enables quick medical responses.

Problem Statement

Managing and monitoring the health status of individuals under quarantine or at risk of infectious diseases like COVID-19 in real-time has been a major challenge, especially during pandemics. Traditional methods are manual, delayed, and lack continuous data tracking, which can delay intervention and increase the risk of transmission.

Uniqueness of the Solution
  • Comprehensive Physiological Monitoring: This innovation introduces a smart wearable device capable of tracking key physiological parameters, including body temperature, SpO₂, heart rate, respiratory rate, and sweat pH.
  • Continuous Data Transmission: These measurements are continuously collected and wirelessly transmitted to a centralized healthcare controller for real-time monitoring.
  • Durable and Secure Design: The wearable device is lightweight, waterproof, sanitizable, and tamper-proof, featuring a secure locking mechanism to ensure it stays in place during the observation period.
  • AI-Powered Health Analysis: A key feature of the system is its integration with AI/ML algorithms, which analyze the collected data to detect early signs of infection and send real-time alerts to medical personnel.
  • Flexible and Compatible Usage: The device can be worn on the wrist or arm and is compatible with standard smartphones using Bluetooth or other wireless communication protocols.
Prototype Details

The iWRIST is a smart, lockable wearable device designed for pandemic use, capable of monitoring body temperature, SpO₂, heart rate, respiration rate, and sweat pH. It features an optical sensor, four temperature sensors, and a sweat pH sensor. The device is waterproof, sanitizable, lightweight, and powered by a 21-day battery. Data is transmitted via Bluetooth to a mobile app and then to healthcare centers via cloud, enabling continuous remote monitoring.

Current Status of Technology

The prototype of the wearable device has been developed and successfully tested in laboratory settings. It is capable of collecting, transmitting, and processing physiological data in real-time. The system has also been validated for secure communication with cloud-based healthcare monitoring platforms.
