3D nano-hydroxyapatite/gelatin/carboxymethyl chitin composite engineered with controllable viscoelastic properties for guided bone regeneration

This invention relates to three-dimensional nano-hydroxyapatite/carboxymethyl chitin/gelatin scaffold construct for guided bone regeneration and a process to manufacture the same. The present scaffold construct has efficient mechanical as well as controllable visco-elasticity in body milieu or wet condition, hemocompatibility, biocompatiblility. The pre-clinical response of the resorbable and compliant scaffold construct in critical sized bone defect, to promote and facilitate bone growth using new-zealand white rabbit as animal model, underscoring its use as a suitable bone regenerative material.
