Self-disinfecting hydrophobic coating

The technology deals with biodegradable, non-toxic emulsions which act as self-disinfecting hydrophobic coating, and their method of preparation and uses. The present invention relates to coating material for textile and clothing and a method is developed for achieving textile having improved filtration, antimicrobial (including antiviral and antibacterial properties) and hydrophobic properties. The textile produced by the method herein include functionalizations with improved barrier properties. This leads to high particle filtration, splash resistance, viral filtration efficiency as well as inactivation of bacteria and viruses, while maintaining reusability.
