A process for the synthesis of α-Trifluoromethyl Ketones by trifluoromethylation of olefins

This invention relates to synthesis of unactivated α-Trifluoromethyl Ketones from olefins. Reaction is carried out with sodium triflinate (NaSO2CF3) Langlois Reagent in the presence of Ag/K2S2O8 and in a solvent medium of DMF either alone or with water. Reaction is carried out at ambient conditions in the presence of atmospheric oxygen.
