The present invention provides an adsorbent for removing dyes from industrial wastewater.Said adsorbent is in the form of a filter adsorbent, comprising

• at least one layer of negatively charged graphene oxide paper and
• at least one layer of positively charged graphene oxide paper stacked together.
• The adsorbent is a powdered mixture of negatively and positively charged graphene oxide.
• The adsorbent of the present invention is capable of removing cationic and anionic dyes simultaneously
