Himalayan snow and glacier studies using Microwave remote sensing - Aspecial emphasis on mass of seasonal snow and Eastern Himalaya
About the project
Project focuses on the radar data utilization for the development of methodology/algorithms/models for monitoring snow volume and mass changes, which includes the development of scattering modelling in snowpack for density and depth inversion. Project also aims to produce spatial distribution of snow depth and snow volume, and to generate high resolution DEM and glacier velocity for predicting snow/glacier dynamical changes in North-Eastern Himalaya precisely.

Post Graduate Degree in Basic Science OR Graduate / Post Graduate Degree in Professional Course selected through a process described through any one of the following:

a. Scholars who are selected through National Eligibility Tests - CSIR-UGC NET including lectureship (Assistant Professorship) and GATE.

b. The selection process through National level examinations conducted by Central Government Departments and their Agencies and Institutions such as DST, DBT, DAE, DOS, DRDO, MHRD, ICAR, ICMR, IIT, IISc, IISER etc.
Job Profile
JRFs will be involved in the following tasks: -Acquisitions of space-borne radar data from ALSO-2, TanDEM-X, and RadarSAT-2. - SAR data Processing - Field campaign for collecting in-situ data and measuring scattering information using VNA based radar system - InSAR data processing for DEM generation and validation using DGPS survey data - DInSAR data processing for glacier velocity estimation and validation using DGPS velocity measurements -Scattering inversion algorithm development for snow volume and mass estimation.
